Tissa Wewa is an ancient man-made reservoir located in Tissamaharama, southern Sri Lanka. It was constructed in the 3rd century BCE by King Kavantissa to provide water for agriculture and the surrounding settlements of the Ruhuna Kingdom.

The reservoir covers nearly 400 hectares and continues to serve as an important source of irrigation and water supply for the region. Its calm waters, bordered by lush greenery and palm trees, create a picturesque setting that adds to the beauty of Tissamaharama town.

Tissa Wewa also supports a variety of birdlife and aquatic species, making it a peaceful spot for nature lovers and photographers. At sunset, the shimmering lake with the Tissamaharama Stupa in the background offers one of the most scenic views in southern Sri Lanka.
