Located near Habarana in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Hurulu Eco Park is a lush sanctuary that forms part of the Hurulu Forest Reserve, a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve. Spread across 10,000 hectares of dry evergreen forest, grassland, and scrub jungle, the park serves as an important elephant migration corridor connecting Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks.

Hurulu Eco Park is most famous for its elephant safaris, where visitors can observe herds of wild Asian elephants roaming freely in their natural habitat, especially between May and October. The park also shelters a variety of deer, peacocks, eagles, monkeys, and other native wildlife, making it a haven for nature lovers and photographers.

Less crowded than nearby national parks, Hurulu Eco Park offers a quieter, more intimate wildlife experience — a place where nature thrives undisturbed, and travelers can feel the rhythm of Sri Lanka’s wilderness in its purest form.
