Baby Point, located in Arugam Bay on Sri Lanka’s east coast, is one of the best beginner-friendly surfing spots in the country. It lies just a short distance from the main Arugam Bay Point and is known for its gentle, consistent waves that are perfect for learning to surf or improving basic skills.
The waves here are small, soft, and slow-breaking, making them ideal for beginners and kids — hence the name “Baby Point.” The sandy bottom provides a safe environment, and the area is often dotted with surf schools offering lessons and board rentals.
Baby Point works best from May to October, during the east coast surf season, when conditions are smooth and offshore winds create perfect little peelers.
